Writers Strike Is Changing Media Habits
About 35% of Americans are changing their media consumption habits as a result of the Hollywood writers strike, according to a report by the consultancy firm Interpret. Some 27% are watching less network television. Many viewers are turning to video games and DVDs.

YouTube’s Rise Threatens Broadcasters
YouTube continues to hold the No. 1 spot in online video, says ratings firm comScore. „If you are CBS, the fact that people are watching a few hours of online video is of some concern,” says Forrester Research analyst Josh Bernoff. Some of these viewers „are never coming back.”

Media Consumption Increasingly Online
The U.S. online advertising market will reach $50.3 billion in revenue by 2011, according to a new report by the Yankee Group. By 2011, close to 25% of all media consumption will be online. New publisher business models will „help sell interactive advertising.”

Traditional Advertising Is ‘Less Effective’
A McKinsey report predicts that traditional television advertising will be „one-third as effective in 2010 as it was in 1990.” Also, not as many people are dialing 800 numbers and clicking on banner ads as they once did. Thanks to the Internet’s interactivity, one-way messages „no longer work.”

Time Magazine declara iPhone-ul „inventia anului”

Dupa ce anul trecut a spart tiparele cu „Person of the year: YOU”, Time Magazine declara iPhone-ul inventia anului 2007, pentru cel putin 5 motive: design, interfata grafica pe tehnologia touchscreen, softul inovativ permis de dealul exclusiv cu operatorul de telefonie mobila, platforma open-source si potentialul enorm de inovatie pentru urmatorii ani.

M-am jucat cu iPhone-ul intr-un Apple Store si recunosc ca l-as fi cumparat pe loc daca nu era codat doar pentru AT&T. In magazin se vindeau cu coada la casa iar americanii posesori de iPhone se declarau „in love with it”. Isterie? Sau doar un produs inovativ marketat excelent?
